In-Person Programs At Camp Cooper
The Cooper Center for Environmental Learning is an outreach program of the University of Arizona College of Education, in partnership with Tucson Unified School District. We work to increase ecological understanding and deepen feelings for nature. We do this by providing hands-on, research-based programs in science and earth education, by creating lifelong memories, and by inspiring learners of all ages to live more lightly and sustainably on the Earth.
Pre K Programs
Our preschool program is a hands-on program designed to instill a lifelong connection to the environment for Tucson’s youngest learners.
Overnight Programs (K - 8)
Camp Cooper Overnights are an unforgettable way to experience both the natural environment and the social camaraderie that come with an overnight stay.
Full Day Programs (K - 8)
Full-day programs begin with a helpful orientation and a guided desert walk, hike, or activity led by our Cooper Center educators.
Half-Day Programs (K - 2)
Our half-day programs afford young students the opportunity to have a positive and fun experience getting to know their Sonoran Desert neighborhood by using their senses!
Earthkeepers (4 - 5)
Earthkeepers is a magical learning adventure that teaches basic ecological concepts and helps deepen feelings for the Earth. Earthkeepers includes a 3 day, 2 night Camp Cooper experience along with activities completed by students at home and school over several weeks.
Activity Centers are volunteer-led, environmentally-centered lessons geared for small groups of 6-10 students. Please read through the Activity Center choices shown below so you can plan an experience that is fun and appropriate for your students and curriculum. You also have the option to schedule an outreach program with any of our Community Partners.
