Program Highlights

NATURE JOURNALING

Classes can be split into groups, either chosen by the teacher or randomly by Cooper Center staff. Each group will go on a hike where they can observe and learn about what they see, and then have time to reflect on it in their journals by either writing or drawing. Students will also be given an opportunity to use natural materials to add to their journals, and will be taking part in activities that deepen their understanding of the Sonoran Desert and the plants and animals that live in it.

CABINS & CAMPFIRES

After a full day of outdoor experiences, students are ready for dinner and activities around the campfire.  Camp Cooper's amphitheater and fire pit provide the perfect venue for stories, songs, stargazing, and of course, s'mores. Dinner can be coordinated and prepared by teachers and parent volunteers, or can be catered by TUSD for a per-person fee.
