The University of Arizona is collaborating with the Carnegie Foundation to develop national standards for sustainability in higher education. This initiative aims to create a new classification recognizing U.S. institutions' sustainability efforts. The University of Arizona is among 21 institutions participating in this pilot program.

Old Pueblo Hemp Company is partnering with the University of Arizona and Tucson Unified School District to enhance the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning's cabins using hemp-lime, a sustainable and energy-efficient building material. This initiative aims to improve energy efficiency and promote eco-friendly construction practices. The company also plans to offer community workshops on hemp-based building materials starting in March.
