"So many great memories. One that stands out was during the journey through time activity during an Earthkeepers trip where a student, Artie, who was pretty regularly disengaged and uninterested in school was actively participating and answering questions. When the questions was posed about what students thought the future would look like if us humans did not start to re-forge our connections with the earth, he said, "It's going to look like how the earth looks in Wall-E with trash everywhere!".It was a joy to see him make connections and actually participate.
Was there anything about Camp Cooper that helped guide you in your life today? EX:) choosing to live more sustainably, having a deeper connection to nature, working in a field related to the environment.: It's hard to say what childhood experiences influence you the most, but I do have very fond memories of my time there as a child. I have a deep connection with the natural world, the Sonoran Desert in particular and have devoted myself to sharing those experiences with students through my work."
