TUSD superintendent Gabriel Trujillo, Pulitzer finalist David Fitzsimmons to celebrate new Camp Cooper program in livestream gala
The Cooper Center for Environmental Learning will announce new programs for Southern Arizona students at its first virtual community event on September 18th.
- The Cooper Center for Environmental Learning will host a live virtual gala on Sept. 18 starting at 5:30 pm; the event is free and open to the public.
- Cooper Center director Colin Waite will announce virtual field trips to support high-quality science instruction and will provide updates on the Center's annual crowdfunding campaign, which runs throughout September.
- The event will feature professional musicians Ann Hampton Callaway and PD Ronstadt, editorial cartoonist David Fitzsimmons, Tucson Unified School District superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo and Dean Bruce Johnson of the University of Arizona College of Education.

On August 16th, Camp Cooper Educators and over 40 students from around Tucson participated in Camp Cooper Live - a live online guided exploration of science and ecology. Together, the staff and students dissected owl pellets - revealing what owls eat and how they digest their food.

Build A Bird Feeder At Home
As part of a Camp Cooper Online activity "Backyard Birding" - students were shown through an instructional video how to make a variety of bird feeders from household materials. Turns out bird feeders aren't just for the birds!

Geology Activity At Home
As part of a Camp Cooper Online activity "Adopt A Rock" students were taught the three basic types of rock and invited to find a rock of their own and record their observations about it's characteristics.
