Camp Cooper Awarded for Excellence!
This year, the Arizona Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) has awarded Camp Cooper with their eeExcellence award for Outstanding Environmental Education Program! The award acknowledges the contributions Cooper has made in the area of outdoor and environmental education initiatives in Arizona.
Along with recognizing lifetime achievements, individual educators in both traditional and non-formal teaching settings, and business that are committed to environmental education, the award for Outstanding Environmental Education Program must have long-term commitments and clearly defined goals for teaching the principles environmentalism, sustainability, and inclusivity.
We are extremely honored to be recognized by AAEE with this award! Director Colin explains, “This recognition is a testament to the hard work that our staff has put into our programs and our community relationships. I’m grateful for all they do every day in service to our mission and for each and every visitor to Camp Cooper.”
The eeExcellence Award winners are recognized for their leadership in environmental education, curriculum and programs, passion and dedication, best practices and model sustainability, community partnerships, equity and social justice.
AAEE is the Arizona state affiliate for the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) and along with Cooper, participated in the NAAEE conference in October. The association has helped connect and empower environmental educators and organizations across the state to better provide the fundamental skills and nature experiences that all children deserve and need.
