Apparel and Sustainability - Virtual Event and Film Screening

April 1, 2020

University of Arizona students are invited to participate in our SewTrue Virtual Event centered on educating our community about environmental sustainability and the apparel industry.

We have adapted this event to keep the safety of our students and faculty in mind, so instead of screening the film this year we will be asking students to watch the screening online through the UArizona Library website, and post responses to our Facebook event page!

Here's how this works (again this is a student specific event):

Step 1.

From April 9th-15th, watch The True Cost documentary

Step 2.

Respond to the following questions in our Facebook event discussion (no later than April 15th)

  1. Which part of the documentary stood out and why?
  2. What are you going to do about it?
  3. What questions do you still have?

Want to win $100?

Get as many likes on your Facebook discussion post by April 15th
Authors for the top five most liked posts will each win $100

Step 3.

Attend our virtual panel on April 16th at 6pm via Zoom!  Panelists include

  • Skya Nelson: CEO of Fed by Threads
  • Dr. Sabrina Helm: Director of CESI - Consumers, Environment & Sustainability Initiative
  • Dr. Kathleen Kennedy: Associate Professor, Retailing & Consumer Sciences
  • Lauren McCullough: Sustainable Clothing Advocate
