Desert Poetry
This is our last week of Camp Cooper Online!
Thank you for coming with us on this journey.
While we love science and ecology and learning about our environment, as living creatures we also really just love nature! Poetry is one way that we can connect with and express our feelings about the natural world.
Learn about poetry forms in two related videos from our resident desert poet, Herb! We recommend watching these two videos in order!

Activities
Poetic Devices
Here are eight different poetic tools, or "devices" which poets use for different effects. Read about each device and then see an example of how they are used.
Poetic Forms
Nine different poems described with an example for each! Get inspired by these poetry examples, or break all the rules and create a form of your own!
Share Your Poems With Camp Cooper Staff!
We would love to read/hear/watch what you create!
Email your poems - either typed out, as a picture of your handwritten poem, a video of you reading your poem, an audio file of you reading your poem - you decide how you want to share it!
One more thing before we go...
This is our last Camp Cooper Online installment for summer 2020 - we are so grateful to each of you for joining us!
While our field trips are on hold for fall 2020 we will be working with individual teachers throughout Tucson to help with virtual encounters focused on science, ecology and Earth education.
